SANDSHARK UNIVERSE SKETCHBOOK AND HISTORY 2002-2017

To Celebrate the 15th Anniversary of 21st Century Sandshark Studios and the works of Dan Nokes they are issuing a very cool sketchcomic

15 Years Ago, Dan Nokes went to Baltimore ComiCon and Decided to be an Independent Comic Creator and Publisher…

It was October of 2002. Dan Nokes had been making comicbook characters and stories for fun since the late ‘80s. He was 26 years of age and decided to turn pro — well, at least as much as a $8-an-hour job would allow him to do). So, he had spent the previous six years compiling art for a comicbook and learning how they were made. He had a large color printer and a little know-how of how to print a ‘zine. He hand-printed about 100 copies of what was at the time: The Reptile and Mister Amazing: The Origin and set out to Baltimore ComiCon with said copies, his portfolio and a set of Sharpies, and tried to peddle himself as some fancy-shmancy comic artist and writer. He sold about two dozen copies that weekend and caught the comicbook bug. It was one of the best feelings he ever had in his life and he wanted more.

From there he went on to do a professional job on the Reptile comic, and created and produced several other self-published titles, such as: The Paranormals (2003-2008), The Pistoleers (2008-2010), Adam and Eve: Bizarre Love Triangle in The Zombie Apocalypse (2011-2012) and Impossible Space Tales of the Last Pit Stop (2012-2017). According to Nokes It’s been a thrill and a privilege to call this his profession and trade over the last 15 years. Now, he wants to compile the efforts of that time into one affordable sketchbook and mini-compendium, so that longtime fans can enjoy some awesome new artwork and factoids of their favorite stories and characters of his. While uninitiated readers will have a primer to get themselves antiquated with the Sandshark Universe!

SO WHAT IS THIS SKETCHBOOK ALL ABOUT!

About the Author

Robert Sodaro

Robert J. Sodaro is a noted comicbook historian and journalist. He began reading “Funnybooks” while sitting on the newsstand in his Uncle’s “Mom & Pop” grocery store, and has been writing about them for so long that he’s become his own grandfather (we don’t really know what that means, we just like saying it). These days, he is just as likely to be writing comics, as writing about them.
